Bailey resting in the shade on our deck in California

A reader of this blog admired my pup Bailey and asked what breed he is.

He is a Havanese. Don't imagine most people know much about the breed. I didn't before I found him.

When my Bichon Frise, Biscuit, died after a long and happy life at 16+ years of age, I didn't think getting another Bichon would be a good idea. She had been a great friend for a long time and had her own personality. I figured a new Bichon pup would suffer from the comparison.

So I got on the internet and began researching long-lived, good dispositioned dogs that are relatively small. Up popped the Havanese. I had to travel all the way to San Diego to get Bailey, but, he was worth the trip.

A good and loyal guy he is and a super companion. If I'm blue, he's concerned and gets his stuffed llama to cheer me up. If I'm very happy, he gets his stuffed llama so we can share the joy. You did know that a good stuffed llama is the key to a happy life, didn't you?

Have a great day.
